PERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS |
|
| |
We have
all known teachers who have been very
accomplished and polished behaviorally whom
we did not trust as we experienced them as
being manipulating. On the other hand, we
have also met the rough diamonds who do
crude and offensive things but we still
trust them as we experience them to be
“genuine”. The aim of this module is to
understand this elusive “genuineness”. |
| |
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT |
|
| |
This module will help you to understand the
effective and ineffective teaching styles;
the reasons for learners' misbehavior; the
ways to manage time, space and attention;
pair and group work techniques; learning
styles and learning strategies of learners;
and the art of questioning. It will be most
beneficial for those who want to create an
atmosphere of teaching and learning in their
classrooms. |
| |
INNOVATIVE TESTING |
|
| |
If testing does not change, why should the
teacher’s method change? This module will
offer a fully practical alternative to the
present system of testing, and hopefully
demonstrate that we can have an alternative
to the Matric exam, but which is not foreign
in content or experience. |
| |
THE FIFTH DISCIPLINE |
|
| |
In this module, the five disciplines will
provide a process and a language to help
people develop their capacity to hold and
seek a vision, reflect and inquire, build
collective capabilities and understand
systems. |
| |
LESSON PLANNING |
|
| |
Plans are worthless but planning is
invaluable. Teachers must know the
parameters of effective lesson plans in
their professional work. |
| |
ENGLISH SKILLS DEVELOPMENT |
|
| |
This module is based on the strategies by
which the teachers will improve their own
English and analyze the benchmarks of
proficiency for their students. |
| |
SCHOOL LEADERSHIP |
|
| |
MTC is a teacher leadership program and a
central vision of it is to prepare the
participants for leadership positions. Thus
they must be able to see the whole school as
a system and understand that if change must
happen the rhythms of a school’s life must
be critiqued and aligned in new ways. This
module will provide them the conceptual
tools to enable them to do so. |
