DAY ONE: A PASSION FOR TEACHING

This session looks at the motivations, aspirations that the teacher has brought with her. It re-examines the reasons for dedication to the work of a teacher, of expanding horizons and changing minds. Often we allow petty issues to cloud our minds and judgements. This workshop shows us the great impact teachers can actually have on the young minds in their care.

AUGUST 9TH FRIDAY 9 AM TO 5 PM
DAY TWO: ENGLISH SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

This highly interactive workshop is targeted to those who wish to improve their language skills i.e. listening, speaking, reading grammar and vocabulary.

It offers a series of self-help activities on how to become an active listener, how to overcome hesitation in speaking, how to increase reading speed and recent thinking on English language skills that will allow all participants to improve them in their own time at their own pace.

AUGUST 10TH SATURDAY 9 AM TO 5 PM
DAY THREE INTERACTIVE STRATEGIES

The student’s voice is fundamental to the learning process. While many teachers accept this theoretically, they have problems implementing it in the rough and tumble of the daily classroom. They do not want to snub the smart student (who usually knows all the answers!) and they are tired of cajoling and coaxing the shy, introverted student into speaking in class. This session will offer six templates of activities that can be used by teachers across the curriculum to have more engaging classes involving all students.
