All aspects of daily living has been changed by the huge impact of technology. It is a wonder that teaching and learning are still mired in strange traditional modes of input and outcomes.
MTC finally returned after a two-year hiatus with a radical shift from all previous MTCs. While the core ideas were still offered (because of their enormous practicality) each workshop will offer the participants’ web based extensions to their learning and indeed later, their teaching.
MTC 17 was based on three modules: THE TEACHER AS A PERSON, THE TEACHER IN CLASSROOM and THE SCHOOL IN SOCIETY.
After the module THE TEACHER AS A PERSON, the second week of the MTC 17 was dedicated to the raw material of teaching i.e. language. This was explored in great detail asking serious questions about the nature of language and its relationship too being human, the basis of classroom interaction and the importance of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The Integrated Model of Language Skills was a major offering in this module.
The focus of the third week of MTC 17 was the staffroom and collegiality. The various ways by which we can learn from each other and with the help of each other were explored and the idea of various clubs amongst the teaching staff was demonstrated. All the participants have expressed a keen desire to implement these ideas in their schools institutions when they reopen in the new academic year.
